The US Open Begins

The US Open is one of the highlights for the NYC area each summer.  Tennis enthusiasts and those with the money and connections attend this popular event.  I have fond memories of the event and was lucky enough to witness from courtside a great era when USA Mens tennis was on top.  Since the days of Connors, McEnroe, Agassi, Sampras and others I don't think the USA has had as dominant a role.  Here are some shots from around the event for those who haven't been there.
If you're wondering why the dark backgrounds - it is widely known that late day light at the Open can lead to dramatic backlit shots which are a bit different than the standard lighting.  So I tossed in some of those scanned from film.

Exploring Downtown NYC

Exploring NYC is an endless journey I look forward to doing for another 40 years or so.

Every once in a while I'll discover something I really never knew existed.  It's one thing to say oh I'll get there sometime - but another to bump into a a great place I never knew existed.

This week while exploring the damaged areas from Sandy I happened to cross under the FDR and notice a ramp up to a platform over the East River.  I don't know the name of the area - but if you are ever down that way it is worth a look and a relaxing moment!  Map attached of area.

X10 or X20 premium leather case is still a “must have”.
Note:  The X20 camera, due to identical body construction, can also use this camera case.

When a slow shutter photo opportunity or a one-handed picture demands a steady camera, the X-M1 hand grip adds confident support. This accessory is highly recommended when using a zoom or other long lens options.

This exclusive camera case is made of premium, genuine leather that molds to your grip and has an elegant design that integrates perfectly with the compact and lightweight FUJIFILM X-M1 camera body.  The flap on the bottom of the case allows users to take the memory card and battery in and out of the camera body without having to remove the case.

New Rugged Float Strap that ensures floatabilty for most underwater digital cameras.
